Ravenswood Has a New Look!

March 24, 2019 by Talia 19 Comments

Hello, my darling sea sponges!

Remember earlier this year I mentioned that the Ravenswood series would be overhauled in April? Well, Christmas came (very) early, because the new covers are here already. And they are STUNNING, if I do say so myself!

The covers were designed by the wonderful Natasha Snow Designs, and I couldn’t be happier with the sweet, slightly steamy, small-town romance result. Let’s take a look, shall we?

(Disclaimer: I know I’m a writer, but I’m about to type like I’ve never met a comma in my life, and I have no regrets. EXCITEMENT CANNOT BE CONTROLLED!)

A Girl Like Her by Talia Hibbert; a dark skinned black woman and a blonde white man, bother wearing white, look into each others eyes against a backdrop of green fields and cloudy blue skies.

(This gorgeous cover image was photographed by Regina Wamba.)

Please tell me I’m not the only one FREAKING OUT over the way these two look at each other. AHHHH. EMOTIONS. TENDERNESS. THE… HAND… ON HER… FACE…. whew, let me get it together. Three cheers for Ruth, Evan, and their grump-meets-hunk romance, A Girl Like Her.

Now, moving on…

Damaged Goods by Talia Hibbert: a white-passing man, holds a white woman, their faces mostly obscured as they prepare to kiss, against a backdrop of sea and sand

(This cover image was photographed by Sara Eirew!)

I love how CLOSE THEIR FACES ARE. Do you? I think you do. Seriously, this picture looks like when you really love someone and you rub noses and smile like a doofus. Which is perfect for Laura, Samir, and their baby-makes-three second chance romance, Damaged Goods.

Annndddd FINALLY….

Untouchable by Talia Hibbert: a black woman in a white dress and a tattooed, pierced white man hold each other close against a backdrop of blue skies and white tulips.

(These beauties were photographed by the lovely Taria Reed.)

MY PRECIOUS EMOTIONAL EDGE BABIES. No eye contact because omg #forbidden. Not to be dramatic but do you guys see those tulips in the background? And do you remember that Hannah and Nate from Untouchable, a single dad meets nanny romance, MEET AS ADULTS IN A TULIP FIELD? Do you see what we did there? MAN I am flying without wings right now.

Thank you so much to my designer and the photographers involved in these majestic creations. These books are literally lying around my house for decorative purposes. I am deeply, deeply in love. It’s been so hard holding on to these covers without showing you guys the majesty. So. Damn. Hard. So I caved and showed you early because discipline is not my destiny.

If you, too, want Ravenwood-themed home decor, you can grab the paperbacks now…

What do you think of the covers? Which is your favourite? Are you screaming? Let me know.

Love and biscuits,

Talia

    Totally screaming! They are beautiful!

My favorite? Evan and Ruth! Evan with his eyes closing in devotion and Ruth wide-eyed, a touch guarded, a touch surprised.

I love love love the first one! It’s accurate to the descriptions of the characters (even though Ruth has curly hair, but I can overlook that part because at least this model has long hair). I’m rather disappointed that the male model on Damaged Goods is white since Samir is definitely not white, but aside from that it’s very beautiful! I love the pose they’re in. And the last one….idk it’s ok. I’m not crazy about the male model’s face and he looks too young (I literally pictured the model from the previous cover in my head when I read it and THAT was a man). The female model is beautiful though she doesn’t look like the sister of the model for Ruth at all. I do love the tulip field! And I will continue to read your books and these over and over again!

I am disappointed I couldn’t find a part-Moroccan model for Samir, too, but we tried to fit his description, at least. If only I could have dedicated photoshoots! I’m super glad you like them <3

I can’t pick a favorite cover. They are all so incredibly beautiful, sweet, sexy and so fully of emotion and romance. I just want to fall into each one and lose myself there.

Good Lord I loved this. Talia Hibbert knocks it out of the park again. Hannah is a brilliant heroine, of the kind that I just know is going to get called unlikeable despite the fact that she’s as relatable a character as I have ever encountered. She’s ferociously hard-working, independent, protective, self reliant. She is also depressive, has anxiety, and is holding it together thanks to good medication, and she’s

The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen is out today and it is a serious banger. This book shot directly into my KJ Charles Top 3 (alongside Any Old Diamonds and An Unsuitable Heir, obviously). It has:

- secret identities!

- hot Kentish smugglers!!

- so much delicious “he’s powerful and dangerous and on my side” energy!

- also “I’m just a daft sad boi with abandonment issues rambling around the countryside” energy!

- super saucy witness intimidation!!!

And more!

KJ is one of my absolute favourite romance authors and this book encapsulates all the reasons why. Enjoy 😘

If you’re wondering what I put in my newsletters, the short answer is: chaos. The long answer: what I’ve written, what I’m reading (Casey McQuiston, amongst other things) and little anecdotes like this:

My fiancé and I moved house this summer, and our new bedroom overlooks the garden. This was lovely when 'garden' meant 'nice rectangle full of flowers', but as winter descended and the flowers met a frosty end, I enjoyed it less.

Since I try to monitor my mental health, I made note of how this transformation changed my mood. Clearly, I realised, flowers cause Good Chemicals in my brain. Maybe I should put some flowers in my bedroom while there were none outside?

Um, no, Talia. That would be silly and extravagant and wasteful. There's no space in your small bedroom for that, and anyway, cut flowers don’t last, so there's no reason to have them in the first place.

Then I reminded myself that everything ends, and the 'experience' part that comes before is sort of... the whole point?

So I tried something.

I found a tiny vase, one that would take up no more space on my bedside table than a large mug. Next, I went to the local florist and asked for a single stem of little pink roses, and a single stem of baby's breath.

I cut them up and popped them in the vase. I was instantly delighted. This delight lasted about a week before they shrivelled, at which point I felt quite sad. Then I experienced the singular pleasure of fixing my own sadness on purpose by going out and buying tiny flowers again.

I've been doing this for over two months and it's still working! Sometimes I change up the flowers. My favourite combo right now is two big round-type blooms plus baby's breath.

But my favourite combo isn't the point. The point is this: it's so easy to feel like small, frivolous pleasures aren't worth pursuing. But what is living for, if not enjoyment? Why do you exist, if not to strive for happiness?

Do the thing. Be nice to yourself on purpose. If your feelings didn't matter, you wouldn't have them.

If you’re already a VIP, drop me a 🫖 emoji. If you aren’t on the list, drop me a 💐… and check my site to join us 💘

Happy Love Day, gang! I’m still in my “new year new me” era so I voluntarily left the house this month and it went quite well. I even found a few delights to show you: Dani & Zaf at my favourite library, a table of Brad & Celine at my local Waterstones, and some truly fantastic changing room graffiti. As you can probably tell, all this pleases me greatly.

Another thing that pleases me is how well #HSaUC fits the V Day aesthetic. Perfect. Chef’s kiss. What’s making you feel pink and sparkly lately? Let me know 💖
