Hola, friends!
Since this is my website, I feel like it’s supposed to be a sort of… Talia-central. You know, with all relevant events neatly catalogued for your convenience. So, here’s an event and a half: the cover for my first book with Avon, Get a Life, Chloe Brown, has been revealed. And by none other than Entertainment Weekly!
EW were kind enough to interview me about the book, as well as revealing the cover. If you’re interested in reading that, check it out here.
So… what do you need to know about Get a Life, Chloe Brown?
Chloe is chronically ill.
The titular heroine, Chloe Brown, suffers from fibromyalgia. If you’re unaware, fibromyalgia causes – amongst other things – chronic pain and chronic fatigue. Since I have fibro, too, this is #ownvoices rep.
This book is not inspiration porn.
Chloe’s life story isn’t a tragedy; it’s a romcom with a wonderful HEA and lots of witty, sexy moments. She doesn’t die at the end so the hero can be ‘free’. Her suffering doesn’t teach him a lesson about what it really means to be alive. They snark at each other, fall in love, and have excellent sex. Dassit.
There is a cat.
You see him up there, right? Yeah. He’s a fun time. Kind of rude, kind of grumpy, but then, so is Chloe.
The hero is a survivor.
Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a precious baby angel who’s just trying his best. At first, he hates Chloe a little bit, but he has his reasons. Once he figures out that she’s secretly a big softie, he warms to her. A lot. I mean, a lot. Is it getting hot in here?
There are tons of lists.
Chloe can’t really function without them. She likes to be in control. So, obviously, everything she does goes completely to plan… until Red.
Get a Life, Chloe Brown will be out in November 2019. But you can pre-order it now!

OMG, I am so excited to hear about this book! As a woman with fibromyalgia myself, I can identify with so much about this. THANK YOU for writing this story! I cannot wait to read it!!
It’s my absolute pleasure! I am so excited for everyone to read, and I really hope you love Chloe’s story <3
Your cover is absolutely adorable!!!
Thank you!
Your book was my pick for this month’s book club. Enjoyed it very much, thank you! Do you have a question or more on what you would want people to discuss about your book? Our discussion is next week. Thanks in advance!
That is so lovely to hear! Thank you to the club for picking Chloe Brown! In terms of discussion questions, perhaps something like: What role do you think the politics of desire (in terms of Chloe’s identity as a plus-sized, disabled black woman) plays in this novel? Or alternatively, How is Red’s relationship with Chloe not only healthier than his previous relationship, but a safe space for him to heal and grow? Just some ideas!
